The unique historic charm of Norway can be found on Main Street and its country roads. The town has a very friendly and historic downtown district with shops, artistic outlets, and restaurants. Norway offers many various types of services, recreation, and activities. Norway was settled in 1786 as Rustfield. The Town of Norway was incorporated in 1797. The population is about 5,000. Great Place to Visit, Vacation, and Live. The pleasant town and country setting offers many opportunities for the visitor or vacationer. In the fall you can attend the country fairs held in the area, take part in the hunting season, or pick apples in the nearby orchards. The winter offers cross-country trails for Nordic skiers, Mt. Abrams and Sunday River skiing areas for downhill skiers, ice fishing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing. Spring is fishing and maple sugar season time. The summer offers many activities to include biking, birding, kayaking, camping, hiking, fishing, and summer camps. Directions to Norway. From Portland (or points south) take Interstate 95 to Exit 63 at Gray. At the end of the ramp (light) take a left, at the next light take a right, follow Route 26 North. Stay on Route 26 for about 30 miles and then bear left onto Route 118 in Norway at the fork in the road just past the car dealerships and Aubuchon Hardware. At the stop sign proceed straight ahead onto Main Street.
